Almost two weeks I stopped jogging. Donated blood on 9 July and got flu and coughing for the whole week. Conditions became unbearable on last Wednesday, went to consult GP after work, got the medicine. The next morning, condition was not improved but still went to office until I could not focus on my work and went again to see the same doctor to ask for a medical leave as I really wanted to rest at home.
The next day, got an appointment to with the Urologist at Sunway Medical. Fortunately health condition improved. After sending Han to school, went to SMC area to have a breakfast, arrived at 8.25am, registered and got the number 5. The nurse asked me to hold the bladder. But I still went to toilet for a "morning release" :) However, I still waited for about 2 hours before my turn. By that time, bladder really full. Dr asked me a few questions and then lay down on the bed for ultrasound scanning. Tried very hard to hold my bladder especially when he pressed hard on my bladder area. Then, the nurse asked me go to pee and come back again. Dr did another ultrasound scanning and the final part was the most painful when he inserted the scope into my anus to see my prostate.
Once everything done, Dr told me to do another blood test after a month to see if the PSA reading is the same or higher, if it is, then may consider to do a biopsy. He explained that there are reasons to cause the PSA to be high, one is the urinary infection. Since I had this infection in mid June but went for the blood test early July. The other reason is my age, which is unlikely to have high PSA.
So, I would need to do another blood test in mid Aug before returning to see the Dr. Hopefully the PSA reading will go down, like what Dr said the first result was due to urinary infection. The medical cost for this check up is not cheap...RM401.35.
