My Saturday Activities

One side of the auto gate has not been functioning very well. So decided to repair myself. After breakfast with my family, sent Han to Cambridge English class and went to office to do some works. Almost every Saturday have to go back office and become a norm to me. Though I stay in office for only 2 hours ++ but I can do some works that I could not complete during weekdays, including to see the cutting operations in new factory. Company is having a serious customers complaint for delaying orders, some even cancelled orders. The respective HODs have already been called and ideas/suggestions already given but no improvement is seen yet. Anyway, talk this later.....

Left office around 12.30pm, went to fetch Han from her Da Vinci art class before going home.

I took out the motor cover, trying to figuring out what was the reason that caused the motor not working. The control box has no problem as signal sound could be heard. I remembered last time the service man told me there are two carbon brush on the motor side.

I took out carbon brushes from both motors and seemed that the one pair was worn out but not 100% sure. So I changed the good pair one to the one motor that was not working but it didn't work. :(  :(

Then I switched off the power and on again, it worked !

Worn out carbon brush.

So, I went to a nearby hardware shop to look for the carbon brush but unfortunately, could not find the same. The nearest is a bit bigger in square shape and without a wire inside the spring but the spring looked a copper, maybe this is to replace the wire to conduct electricity. So, I bought it and used sand paper to grind the size until it could fit into the holes at both side of the motor.

Guess what ? It worked. See, by doing this myself I could save almost RM200 if I call the service man come. The new carbon brush only cost me RM14.90, though I still think it is expensive. DIY really can help to save $$$ provided if we have interest to dirty our hand but to me, I love to  :)  :)

It has been almost a week that I did not go jogging. Reason ? A friend asked me last Sunday if I wanted to join a football game at Putra Heights. Since football was my favorite sport, I joined. The field was actually located in a housing area, not very big but two small goal posts were built. About 10 of us including 4 young children. All of us already above the age of 40++. Though the field was very small and I go jogging 2 to 3 times a week but it was a bit tough for me also since for more than 10 years I did not play football. The next day, I could feel the effect. My leg muscles were pain and the new rubber football shoes (I bought at RM39) also caused a few of my toes swollen.

That was why I could find a very good reason not to jog in the morning. :) :)  Anyway, I decided to go for a jog yesterday evening since the weather was good (after rain). Not easy to start the pace but I still managed to complete 5.98km. But strange, the heart rate was fast though I ran only at 10.3 km/h, which was not very fast compare to last Thursday morning jog. The calories burnt also high at 445 kcal. Can I conclude that the burning of calories is depending on the heart rate ?

Xuan was taking a selfie at night when I was watching Kong: Skull Island. This was a very good movie.

She can have different funny faces as she likes. :)
