1. No killing (不殺生)
2. No stealing (不偷盜)
3. No lying (不妄語)
4. No improper sexual conduct (不邪淫)
5. No intoxicated drinks (不飲酒)
Look simple ? No, not many can do these.
The other question some people may ask ? If I don't covert, does that mean I am not a Buddhist. The answer is Yes. Many do not like the answer but it's true. Conversion is to show that one believes in Buddhism, if he or she doe not convert to this ritual and only just worship, burning incense, these people are not a true Buddhists, they can only be regarded as person who respect Buddha.
So, does that mean a converted Buddhist has to be a vegetarian for whole life ? Not really. No killing in fact is to cultivate people to have a mercy heart as Buddha believes every living things in the universe is equal and all are deserved a life to live. Many people has a wrong perception about this.
There are a lot of things to learn from Buddha's teaching and all are teaching people to be kind.
Question, have I converted since my wife already done today ? Of course I am a converted Buddhist but not in Malaysia, it was in New Zealand. :) :)
