Antarctica Charity Run 2018

My first running event in year 2018. Decided to take part as a kick start to go for a longer distance. One of my new year resolutions is to run Half Marathon (21km) instead of the usual 10km only. At my age, can I do it ? Yes, I believe I can 😀 This Antarctica Charity Run is a very good kick start for me. How was my running ? I was worried at the beginning since I have yet to fully recover my pelvis hamstring injury due to my football game.

When the run started, about 300 meter from the starting point. Someone pat on my shoulder when passing me. He was my ex-colleague and is working in one of the famous company. At the first water station, he stopped to have a drink while I just grabbed a cup of water and continue my run. He then overtook me again not long after that and gave me another pat. Then, I have this thought in my mind. He is younger than me, why not I proof to myself that I would not finish behind him ? And assuming I am representing my company, how can I lost to his company ? 😁😊 I continue my run with this thought in my mind and in about 8km, I was in front of him again. Though I felt quite tough but this thought kept asking me not to slow down. Finally, I made it, I finished in front of him ! I strongly believe that with a strong determination, we can do what we want to achieve in life !

The run was supposed to start at 7am but at 7.17am, the run has yet to start.

The warming up session is still going on...

Looks like we are waiting for our Deputy PM to flag-off the event, that's why the run has to delay....😔

Yes, completed my run within 1.5 hours. I remember my longest run a few years ago was 12km at Putrajaya night run. It was very hard for me. But today, I felt better though the sun was up in the sky and weather was getting hotter. Most importantly, the motivation helped me to complete the run !

My lucky number for this run. Yes, the running distance was 13km. Satisfied with my performance !

Finisher medal.

Clocked in 1 hour 16 minutes, average pace was 9.8km/h. Not bad since the distance is 3km more that my usual 10km. On top of this, I have burnt 868 kcal 😃

  Route for this 13km run.

A Letter From My Sponsored Child - Sithu Lin

Received a letter yesterday from my other sponsored child, Sithu Lin. He is also from Myanmar and a Muslim. A smart boy who was in primary standard 6 last year. He should be in Secondary school this year. Last correspondence from him was his yearly report in Oct 2017.

Write in Myanmar language, of course I don't understand.  :)
